Recommended dosage

Calcium is an essential nutrient that helps maintain strong bones and teeth and contributes to the normal functioning of your muscles. Elan has developed the Calcium Vital tablets specifically for people who have undergone weight loss surgery to help meet your daily calcium needs. Calcium Vital contains calcium citrate, a form of calcium that is well absorbed by your body. Additionally, Vitamin D3 has been added to the Calcium Vital tablets, as it enhances calcium absorption in your bones. Calcium and Vitamin D3 contribute to the maintenance of strong bones and teeth.
The required amount of calcium depends on your surgery. Based on the internationally recognized guidelines from scientific associations (ASMBS and IFSO), we recommend taking at least 1,200 – 1,500 mg per day. It’s also important to take no more than 500 mg of calcium at a time, to allow your body the opportunity and time to absorb the calcium. For the best advice after your surgery and tailored to your personal situation, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider.
