Calcium is an important nutrient that helps maintain strong bones and teeth and contributes to the normal functioning of your muscles. Elan has specially developed the Calcium Chew chewable tablets and the Calcium Vital tablets for people who have undergone weight loss surgery to supplement your daily needs. Both the Calcium Chew chewable tablets and the Calcium Vital tablets contain calcium citrate because this form of calcium is well absorbed by your body. In addition, vitamin D3 is added to the Calcium Chew chewable tablets and the Calcium Vital tablets, which increases calcium absorption in your bones. Calcium and vitamin D3 contribute to maintaining strong bones and teeth. The trial package contains 2 Calcium Chew chewable tablets and 2 Calcium Vital tablets.

The required amount of calcium depends on your surgery. According to the internationally recognized guidelines of the scientific associations (ASMBS and IFSO), we advise you to take at least 1,200 - 1,500 mg per day. It is also important to take a maximum of 500 milligrams of calcium at a time so that your body has the opportunity and time to absorb the ingested calcium. Calcium is not included in Elan's WLS products because calcium inhibits the absorption of iron.

If you are also using the Calcium Vital tablets or the Calcium Chew chewable tablets, take them at a different time than the Compass capsule, Compass tablet, and Ferro Vital tablet. There should be at least 2 hours between taking the Calcium Vital tablet or the Calcium Chew chewable tablet and your Compass capsule, Compass tablet, and Ferro Vital tablet so that your body has enough time to absorb the iron properly.

Take 1 Compass capsule per day, preferably before or during the evening meal. Swallow the capsule with a sip of water or other sugar-free drink. Do not exceed the recommended dosage. Compass chewable tablets

Take 1 Compass chewable tablet per day and 1 Ferro Vital iron tablet daily, preferably before or during the evening meal. The chewable vitamin with a fresh fruit flavor can be taken at the same time as your Ferro Vital tablet. When you order Compass chewable tablets, Ferro Vital iron tablets are included free of charge. Use only on the advice of your healthcare provider. If you are taking medication, read the leaflets carefully. In case of overdose, consult your doctor.

If you happen to forget to take your Compass capsule, Compass tablet, Compass chewable tablet, and/or Ferro Vital tablet for a day, it’s not a big issue as long as it doesn’t happen frequently. Simply continue taking your Compass capsules, Compass tablet, Compass chewable tablet, and/or Ferro Vital as usual, without needing to make up for the missed dose or take extra.
